Update Sept. 14: Swingers group to explain use of lodge
Somewhere in New York state, a private swingers club has upset a handful of residents that insist on complaining about it on behalf of the entire community. Doesn’t all this sound familiar? It should since that is usually what happens when folks find out a swingers club is operating

What do you get when you allow gambling, drugs and prostitution in your swingers club? A whole lot of problems and un-wanted attention. The charges were laid, the owner pleaded not guilty and the website for the club remains operational with parties scheduled for September so it seems business as usual is the order of the day.

The new county hotel in Gloucester was to have been the new home of a swingers club catering to all in the lifestyle. As usual, the word adultery is thrown about without an understanding of what it is we lifestylers actually do. The stupidity goes on with calls to vote good against evil and on it goes.

Instead of focusing on a single club, let’s talk about the Pleasure Palace (warning none of the menu links work on this site) swingers club in Tampa, Florida, USA which lost it’s liquor license as recently as October of this year. Fear not, the Pleasure Palace is still going strong and this was taken directly from their website: “We are still working on the liquor, please bare with us. We are def not closing, so you can squash those rumors”. Their legal problems started this summer when Tampa morality police decided they wanted to shut down this club, read several stories reported by Tampa Bay Online. Around the same time, Intimate Times (warning this site is terribly hard on the eyes) swingers club in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada also had it’s liquor license revoked by the powers that be. Unlike in the US, a swingers club losing a liquor license doesn’t register as important enough to make the news at all in the great white north…go figure!

Club 91 located inside of the Beverly Hills Suites hotel in Windsor Locks, Connecticut has been shut down for allegedly hosting swingers parties. Usually, when this kind of story comes up, it’s quite easy to confirm or deny if it was in fact a swingers party but this case is different. Cannot seem to locate any website promoting parties at this location. However, we have clearly found postings of folks holding Halloween parties for adults only at the same club (see picture included in this post). It seems that swingers don’t require getting much press as this article (with video) for NBC affiliate KSN shows. We aren’t sure what the problem is because we live in Canada where the government stays out of our bedrooms, but really, a ’sting’ operation was required for this non-issue. Here’s another short article from yet another NBC affiliate Counton2. If you actually want to read about this story and the details, proper coverage or this story is available from The Journal Inquirer.

If you have ever dreamt of an exotic locale that is full of nude people basking in the sun, swimming, shopping, eating and otherwise simply enjoying themselves in the buff, then France has a place just for you! Cap d’Agde is a nudist heaven that also attracts swingers and folks with open marriages. Where there are many swingers there will be swingers clubs and as of late it’s become obvious that someone is sending a message for swingers to stay away. So far, 3 lifestyle clubs have been sent up in flames and the speculations are that fundamentalist nudist could possibly be behind the terrorist like attacks. Read about it in the Times Online or Sky News (with photo). One last link for those needing a Beginner’s Guide to Cap d’Agde thanks to the people @ Fever Parties.

A couple from Hong Kong has gone to jail over black-mailing a newly wed woman to join them in a threesome. You can read the story: Hong Kong couple jailed for tricking newly-wed woman into threesome on the EarthTimes website. Here is another angle on the story from The Standard: Couple in threesome case jailed. Finally, the daily telegraph has fun with this headline by claiming: Sex mad couple caged in Honkers. The bottom line in case you don’t feel like reading these stories: “Wong, who the court heard had Chan’s name tattooed on her pubic area, was jailed for two years and two months after being convicted of aiding and abetting rape and three charges of procuring“.

Don’t you just love it when a swingers club makes news not because of what happens or what they are up to but because of who attends? Jeffrey Toobin, wrote an article for the New Yorker, The Dirty Trickster, and was taken to the Miami Velvet swingers club by Roger Stone himself. Names like Richard Nixon and Eliot Spitzer are being thrown around, and not being a big fan of US politics ourselves (mostly because we don’t live there) the article doesn’t hold much interest for us, but may for you, be a revelation if you are a conspiracy theorist hehehe. Here is another take on the story from New York Magazine: So, One Day, Roger Stone Brings Jeffrey Toobin to a Swinger’s Club…

Alan R. Levy published a very interesting story in the Yale Law Journal with a title sure to get your attention: ‘How “Swingers” Might Save Hollywood from a Federal Pornography Statute‘. It seems that in the US, pornographers and the like have been fighting and losing the ‘proof of age’ legal battle that has plagued them for years. In a funny turn of things, it seems that swingers have more power than pornographers, they took the law to the upper courts and actually managed to do what the sex industry has tried and failed. You can also read this article from Find Law to get a better understanding of how swingers fit into this picture.

Not much of an angle on this story. As it turns out, Robert Dow, the new president of the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association used to throw swingers parties about two decades ago. The Palm Beach Post printed an article that caused some controversy lol. The more I write about these supposed news stories, the more I realise that sex really does sell if they have to resort to a weak swingers reference to sell the story.

It’s just beyond me how people can protest a swingers club in their neighbourhood when there are thousands of worthy causes that need volunteers with a lot of spare time on their hands. It may be wrong to be a swinger, but it sure feels right to us! On to the story, The Hunt Club of Brevard, located in Melbourne, Florida is getting some attention in the media because of nosey neighbours. You can read the shortest story ever published or actually read a full article about the protest.
