It took a while to go through this npr story which includes many audio snippets as well as a discussion on the topic of vice. It’s well worth the bookmark for later reading if you don’t have the time right now. There is a sample chapter included and of course swingers are featured to my delight. Any promotion of the lifestyle is good news in our book and this book (pun intended) seems to put across similar values as we have as far as swinging and the lifestyle is concerned. You can purchase the book from Amazon and while you are there, take a look at over a dozen reviews for the book, and only one of which is not favorable. You can also peek inside the book while there as this one has been scanned for a free preview! Find another review here by Harriet Klausner who is a real bookworm. Should be a great read as Peter Sagal is a radio host and book author, the book itself is a hard cover 272 pages long and I don’t know if it will see the light of day as an ebook anytime soon?

Couples International has made headlines lately because of changes to their business type. The clubs owners Bryan and Leesa Horn are trying to have their venue recognized as more of a nightclub type than your typical swingers club. It is still a place where adults can come to have sex if they so choose. A blog called: Emily Everywhere has lots of discussion on this as well as a video interview with the club owners. It’s always nice to see what the regular folks think about swingers once they go beyond the stereotypes. You can read an article as well as view the club’s website.

In an obvious attention grab, what should of been a simple assault story uses sex to get more attention. It’s just too bad they only ever talk about the swinging lifestyle when trying to shock people. Aren’t there any reporters out there that actually want to cover the news about the lifestyle as it really happens? Sidenote, when I posted this, the swingers story was in the list of that day’s top viewed stories! Things that make you go hmmm…

I have heard of Wichita, Kansas before as I’m a bit of a geography buff, but to be honest, I had to check an online map to find out where it is. Let’s just say that if a Canadian were to drive straight south from Winnipeg, Manitoba he would hit Wichita as soon as he got just below the mid-way point in the USA…in other words in the middle of nowhere. Four undercover police officers made the arrest at a west end club (Paul’s Place). Just makes you wonder how long they spent watching before deciding to put an end to the fun? John Stossel is my favorite 20/20 news person and I was happy to find out he covered this story when it was originally published back on March 18, 2005.  They cover the basics of what one would expect such as: making or breaking marriages, travel industry now waking up and catering to lifestylers, women’s lib, and marriage counsellors thrown in for good measure. Strangely enough, there have been no comments posted on this article, pro or con. Read the story.

A newspaper in New York state reports of a Bed and Breakfast owner being hassled by the powers that be in city hall. The owner of the Union Street Bed & Breakfast reports getting nasty letters, having to deal with zoning issues, protests and the list goes on. A big ‘atta boy’ goes out to him for keeping his parties going knowing full well he isn’t doing anything wrong, as mentionned in the article…swinging isn’t illegal. Not sure how much longer this page will stay up as it’s no longer being linked from the main site, but it’s a good laugh if you know how to read between the lines! Read the news story here.
