Swingtown: The First Season DVD

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

We enjoyed watching the first few episodes of Swingtown as shown on the CBS network. The rest of them have been recorded and stored away safely on our personal video recorder (PVR) for viewing when time allows. For those of you not so lucky to have quick access to the show like we do, not to mention the removal of all ADs, the first season DVD is out just in time for the holiday season! One reason we enjoyed watching this show, besides the fact that it’s lifestyle related, is that the acting is good, the clothes and music compliment the 70s instead of making a joke out of it and turning it into yet another cheesy low budget TV show. You can purchase the Swingtown DVD and if you are a swingers club owner, what would be better than this nice Swingtown 11×17 Poster from Amazon to place on the wall inside your club? This doesn’t happen often, but here’s a link to a contest where you can win 1 of 5 copies of Swingtown on DVD. The contest is open to residents of Canada and the USA and as a bonus you can enter your name daily for a chance to win until the draw takes place on January 6th, 2009.

DVD: Swingers (2002) by Stephan Brenninkmeijer

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Since this movie was filmed and released in the Netherlands, it is sub-titled in English. Apparently, the director is part of a very well to do family and was able to shoot this movie in his uncles mansion…can you say low budget? You can start by reading several reviews by members of the Internet Movie Database (IMDB). This movie is available for purchase on Amazon in PAL version as well as the sub-titled English version. You can view a very erotic, quick movie preview by going directly to the website for Swingers the Movie. There is also a trailer on the website but be warned, the site is not in English, however the trailer is?!?

NASCA Directly Promoting “New” Swingers Documentary: PlayCouples

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

A couple days ago an email was sent from NASCA promoting a new documentary film that had been in the works for the past five years. Surely we were well aware of this fact and the anticipation was killing us!?! Not only had we never heard of this video, but it turns out that this video has been for sale as a DVD online for several years now and is not all that new after all. We wish they would have been honest with us instead of treating us like idiots and trying to pawn an already existing video as a new video. In fact, what is new is the ability to view the video online (speaker warning: this is one of those sites that turns on the music with no way to turn it off) for a mere $6.95 USD instead of having to purchase the DVD at well over $20 USD. Trailers for the video were available on sites like Myspace and mcomet but for some unknown reason were taken offline. Finally, a little further research shows that this film is owned by the lifestyles organisation so it should be a very well made video, however it’s too bad they resorted to this kind of advertising in order to increase their sales.

Read on to see the email that was sent, and I am sure you will agree that the Dr. is not being totally honest with us (more…)

TV on DVD: Strictly Confidential

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

The first thing I will admit is that I am not a fan of british comedies, but I also don’t get most of their TV programs either. Having said that, if you are british or like british TV, then this might be a series worth checking out. This DVD contains the episodes that were aired starting in 2006. The premise, a sex therapist that used to be a police officer with the occasional reference to swingers thrown in for good measure. The fact that it didn’t go on for years and years probably speaks volumes of it’s actors, script and or budget. I was able to find some real public opinions as well as a review for the DVD. It is available for purchase from Amazon, and while there, take a look at the 3 reviews posted.
