Tonight was the big night for the very first public broadcasting for the Swingtown TV pilot. We are promised one hour of pure 70s sexual revolution in the way of getting to be a fly on the wall in the midst of suburban swingers. The short description in my TV listings promoted the show in this way: “Susan and Bruce Miller move their family into an affluent Chicago suburb and find themselves at the center of the social and sexual revolution of the 1970s“. The series is presented as a drama and from all the buzz on the Internet, most are thinking it won’t last beyond the first airing while others are cringing at the very thought of having swingers becoming the new mainstream trend all due to a new TV show. My guess is that your local swingers club will be very busy this week-end what with all the looky-loos that will be attracted to the lifestyle after having seen this show..that is if anyone besides this author watches it?

It’s not often I’ll stop and read several blog entries as I just don’t have the time anymore. But this is one great blog where the writer lets you in on the secret world of swinging, even admitting at times to hating swingers. Great, loved it and the fact that it’s so candid will allow a person to understand what the writer is going through at the time. Club Menage a Quatre or simply Club M4 to close friends, is set to open their doors for the first time on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 @ 8pm. The party will include a full diner buffet as well as 10,000 square feet of space for you to party in. They boast of having a locker room with full size lockers, on-site parking, multiple play rooms as well as group play areas, two poles and a private art gallery. The site seems to be a work in progress as the image gallery and video gallery are not functional as of this writing and the rest of the information is sparse at best. But who could blame them, who has time to update and promote a grand opening event on the web when they are probably madly making last minute preparations to have the club ready for the big Saturday party. A poll taken by some users of the site LavaLife showed that the single baby boomers are happy with they way things are going for them. The good news is that more of them are sexually active, looking for threesomes and enjoy sex more now than they did before they hit 40. The Caliente nude resort located in Land O’ Lakes, Florida has been handed a suspension by the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) for hosting lifestyle friendly parties. It seems, the problem is they advertise these events on websites that are swinger friendly, and the association, which bills itself and it’s members as family friendly has started an investigation on the matter. The strangest thing keeps happening to my email…it keeps sending me the newsletter one month late? The May edition the SwingFest  newsletter arrived in my inbox on June 1st, but no matter, this month’s issue is full of goodies. A reader from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada writes in to ask if every swing club is theme happy like their local club Intimate Times. The message goes on to say that it is quite a nice club with a good crowd but they could sure use a break from the constant barrage of theme nights. A quick look at their calendar also shows a blatant disregard for copyright laws in regards to using so many well known images to promote their events but I digress. To be honest, this author could not locate a single party that was not tied to some kind of theme. Also, on a more puzzling note, the message went on to say that apparently the DJ is lost in a world of his own, headbanging to music only known to a select few and groaning at the thought of playing a request for mainstream music. Maybe it’s just us, but doesn’t the DJ make or break a club in many big cities around the world? One final warning, this site is being built like those bad home sites from the late 90s and is really hard on the eyes…blinking text, highlighted text, underlined text that aren’t click-able, bad backgrounds, and when is the last time you saw frames on a site lol? Surely this is being done on purpose to achieve some kind of nostalgic image, I refuse to believe that this is a serious website and should be taken as comic relief for it’s members.

Most of us anticipating the start of this show are used to all the delayed starts by now. But it seems that June 5 is when the pilot is supposed to be shown for it’s 13 show summer run. How can I say for sure that June 5th will be a go, well because it’s listed in my Personal Video Recorder’s TV guide and I’ve got it scheduled to record the series. You can come back to this site for a complete review of the pilot after it runs. In this interview from the Canadian press, Grant Show discusses the fact that there really isn’t much sex in the series, but it just “oozes sexuality”. The site Underground Online (UGO) has a review of Swingtown and the author doesn’t think there will be a demand for this kind of show, but only time can tell.

Don’t you just love it when a swingers club makes news not because of what happens or what they are up to but because of who attends? Jeffrey Toobin, wrote an article for the New Yorker, The Dirty Trickster, and was taken to the Miami Velvet swingers club by Roger Stone himself. Names like Richard Nixon and Eliot Spitzer are being thrown around, and not being a big fan of US politics ourselves (mostly because we don’t live there) the article doesn’t hold much interest for us, but may for you, be a revelation if you are a conspiracy theorist hehehe. A couple days ago an email was sent from NASCA promoting a new documentary film that had been in the works for the past five years. Surely we were well aware of this fact and the anticipation was killing us!?! Not only had we never heard of this video, but it turns out that this video has been for sale as a DVD online for several years now and is not all that new after all. We wish they would have been honest with us instead of treating us like idiots and trying to pawn an already existing video as a new video. In fact, what is new is the ability to view the video online (speaker warning: this is one of those sites that turns on the music with no way to turn it off) for a mere $6.95 USD instead of having to purchase the DVD at well over $20 USD. Trailers for the video were available on sites like Myspace and mcomet but for some unknown reason were taken offline. Finally, a little further research shows that this film is owned by the lifestyles organisation so it should be a very well made video, however it’s too bad they resorted to this kind of advertising in order to increase their sales.

If you are going to be attending Swingfest this year and are curious about the host, Mary Carey…you can get a glimpse of her in a VH1 TV show called: Celebrity Rehab. The show itself has already ended, but for sure you will be able to catch it in re-runs as summer is here and that’s what we know happens during that time. Seems she was admitted for a drinking problem but that hasn’t stopped her from having a drink or two or three. Wish we were attending this year’s event as I would love a chance to see her in person, she does look like a real down to earth type of person. It seems that she may also be the cause of a minor scandal that caused actor Daniel Baldwin to walk off the show, but according the Mary, it seems Mr. Baldwin had ideas of his own. I am sure that there will be more attendees this year at Swingfest due to Mary Carey’s popularity from being on a reality TV show.

This site is not even 3 months old, and we have managed 100 posts so far and May is not quite over just yet. Means that we have been posting on average of just over 1 news item per day, and my backlog of content is still quite long with no sign of letting up. Every week we get about 5 or 6 new sources of swingers and lifestyle items that need to be researched and posted on the site. To give you and example of the work involved, we spend at a minimum of 1 hour researching each and every source of news posted on this site. Just to make sure we’ve covered all the angles and found any all other sources of the same story so you can get a full picture of each story.

Alright so it’s not really Neil Diamond that you will see in this preview video courtesy of the Las Vegas Red Rooster website. But when in Vegas you expect to be entertained and Terry Archer is the best Neil Diamond impersonator, so you should not miss his shows running from Thursday through Saturdays only at the Red Rooster. This famous club hosts parties seven nights a week and has been hosting private parties since the early eighties so you can be sure they understand what it takes to run a swingers party. The International Lifestyle Association (ILA) is a nonprofit corporation registered in Nevada, USA and run by a Board of Directors. A quick look at the board of directors includes a who’s who of lifestyle business owners and at first glance does what NASCA fails to do. The site is full of informative articles and resources. Skip the regular section and go straight to the members section which is currently not protected by a login so you can get to and read everything that members have access to. Membership prices are reasonable and their members list is exhaustive. The only gripes I would have is that the shopping link is dead as well as many of the businesses listed in their ‘links to websites’ are currently dead as most of the businesses it seems, have gone out of business. The video link as well as 2 of the 3 magazines listed are no longer operational, for example. Well worth the visit and you may find yourself spending many hours going through the many offerings here.

Meet Gin Hetrick, lifestyle and relationship coach, author and lifestyle columnist for several years now. She wrote an interesting article about being a single male wanting to join the lifestyle which I will include below. In this article she also mentions her new book, “In the swing of things” which is for some strange reason actually not currently available on her website as claimed. When you visit the Gins Opinion website, be prepared for amateur looking pages created sometime in the heyday of Internet site making of the late 90’s. The section ‘My thoughts’ is well worth the visit as it contains some good content but when you visit the ‘my books’ section, there is actually only one book available for sale: How to prepare for the lifestyle. I searched in vain for other sites selling this book, for reviews and nothing could be found which suggests sales have probably been non-existent considering the high price tag. Finally, a visit the the links page has dead links and banners and the copyright notice dates back at least 3 years ago. As usual, a great idea gone by the way-side…it’s too bad so many great minds give up on their projects and let them become stale.
