We are in the process of writing an article on how to take great profile pictures in order to help you meet more people. However, many folks who want to share face pics are leery in fear of being discovered by neighbours, friends, co-workers or even worse, young children. The article is not quite ready but we came across this great idea and couldn’t wait to share! The concept is to take a nice picture of you with a smile and send it in to have the photo turned into a cartoon or as it’s really known, a caricature. Doing this would allow you to show your likeness to potential playmates all the while protecting your real identity behind a cartoon character. We’ve done the price shopping and we’ve been in contact with the CEO of Dimple Art in regards to creating caricatures for Maple Swingers readers. Not only did we get a reply on the same day, we found a business that has no issues dealing with swingers. Here is the reply we received when asked if it would be OK for our readers to send X rated and possibly group pictures: “For the caricatures you want, I don’t think we are going to have any problems if you would like to refer our website (Dimple Art) to your members. But, please do not send pictures which are too X rated, I’m just worried that some employees who are women will not be happy dealing with that. Hopefully, you will understand this.” - Since we needed a nice picture to place on our ‘About Us’ page, we sent them three pictures: our faces, a nude picture showing the kind of pose we wanted and a copy of the Maple Swingers logo. It seems that many lifestyle webmasters are trying to take advantage of the CBS Swingtown forum by posting ADs in their signatures. Take for example some members as well as the owner of the Swingers Board who have gone on to promote themselves on the Swingtown forums. However, they quickly found out that their posts are getting deleted. Most wonder why, some keep doing it and others even brag about being covert and changing their online identity to be able to post an AD to their favorite board as someone else. It doesn’t take long to find out that they are breaking the rules, a large white box above all posts clearly states: Please obey the rules of this community (no spam, ads, rudeness, profanity, adult content or irrelevant posts), but most of all, have fun. This makes for a fun time watching the swingers post ADs and then I’m sure, the non-swingers hit the ‘report a violation’ button…round and round we go. One post still alive at the time of this writting was from the people organizing Swingfest 2008, it was still there with a signature that clearly advertises a link to the Swingfest site…it may be interesting to see how much longer the post will remain up?
The song is getting harder to ignore, it plays everywhere I turn to on my satellite radio. Katy Perry’s new single “I Kissed A Girl” has the makings to become the swingers anthem for the summer of 2008. There aren’t too many songs being written about the lifestyle that make it to the mainstream, so this may be the closest we get as summer officially kicks in to high gear this evening @ 7:59 eastern time. With lyrics like: “I kissed a girl and I liked it; The taste of her cherry chap stick; I kissed a girl just to try it; I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it; It felt so wrong It felt so right; Don’t mean I’m in love tonight; I kissed a girl and I liked it; I liked it“ it’s just the right song to express how many swinging couples possibly feel about being swingers. Although, not everyone is a fan as posted on idolator. As reported, the song has gained a significant amount of controversy since its rise to popularity due to its perceived support of adultery. We think they got it all wrong, it’s not adultery if your other half can watch!
There are so many types of swingers out there that it would be impossible to list them all here so let’s take a look at one kind in particular. There are some folks out there, not us, who will seek singles to play with as singles, outside of the couple. The husband can play alone and so can the wife, with full knowledge by the other half. To be honest, at first it was very exciting to read and then it just went on to prove that, even as a single gal who is open enough to interview lifestyle folks, she becomes judgemental in the end. Take a line like “So the two had a long talk and decided to keep the marriage, but kick monogamy to the curb” - keep the marriage and salvage it by taking up swinging!?! Well if this author had done her research and knew anything about the lifestyle, you know that becoming a swinger to save your marriage is a sure fire way to have things go oh so horribly wrong. Another example is this statement towards the end of her article: “Maybe it’s just me (or all those corny romantic comedies I’ve watched over the years), but if I were going to be unfaithful, I’d probably do it the good old-fashioned honest way, by sneaking around behind my husband’s back.” Hmmm, I thought we were clear that swinging isn’t cheating so what is she referring to when she says unfaithful? Also, she would rather cheat on her lover than have permission to have sex with anyone she wants…oh, so confused?!?
Here is another story that has nothing to do with swingers or swinging, but you wouldn’t know it from reading this headline or this headline. When you take into account that this monster became a member of the world’s largest sex site, Adult FriendFinder, which just so happens to be a well known swingers site, it make no sense as to why they would use these kind of headlines, except to propagate false news. It’s quite obvious he had setup the profile to have sex with other ladies, which has nothing to do whatsoever with swinging. It’s a sad state of affairs when the media can only use the word ’swinger’ when the aim is to shock or even repulse. A more appropriate, non misleading headline should of read something like Neil Entwistle posted an AD on an online sex site - period! High on the heels of the Swingtown pilot airing earlier this month, the folks over at Showtime have brought ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ from the UK to be shown on this side of the pond. Meet Belle, played by Billie Piper, a actress and pop star in the UK, a high class escort located in England. Reuters has a good introduction story for the show titled: Call Girl reveals secrets but restrains humor. But you don’t have to wait until Showtime airs it, you can watch several episodes of the show directly on the ITV website. The Showcase Canada or Showcase USA websites have all the episodes listed along with their descriptions. Tonight was the big night for the very first public broadcasting for the Swingtown TV pilot. We are promised one hour of pure 70s sexual revolution in the way of getting to be a fly on the wall in the midst of suburban swingers. The short description in my TV listings promoted the show in this way: “Susan and Bruce Miller move their family into an affluent Chicago suburb and find themselves at the center of the social and sexual revolution of the 1970s“. The series is presented as a drama and from all the buzz on the Internet, most are thinking it won’t last beyond the first airing while others are cringing at the very thought of having swingers becoming the new mainstream trend all due to a new TV show. My guess is that your local swingers club will be very busy this week-end what with all the looky-loos that will be attracted to the lifestyle after having seen this show..that is if anyone besides this author watches it?

Club Menage a Quatre or simply Club M4 to close friends, is set to open their doors for the first time on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 @ 8pm. The party will include a full diner buffet as well as 10,000 square feet of space for you to party in. A reader from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada writes in to ask if every swing club is theme happy like their local club Intimate Times. The message goes on to say that it is quite a nice club with a good crowd but they could sure use a break from the constant barrage of theme nights. A quick look at their calendar also shows a blatant disregard for copyright laws in regards to using so many well known images to promote their events but I digress. To be honest, this author could not locate a single party that was not tied to some kind of theme. Also, on a more puzzling note, the message went on to say that apparently the DJ is lost in a world of his own, headbanging to music only known to a select few and groaning at the thought of playing a request for mainstream music. Maybe it’s just us, but doesn’t the DJ make or break a club in many big cities around the world? One final warning, this site is being built like those bad home sites from the late 90s and is really hard on the eyes…blinking text, highlighted text, underlined text that aren’t click-able, bad backgrounds, and when is the last time you saw frames on a site lol? Surely this is being done on purpose to achieve some kind of nostalgic image, I refuse to believe that this is a serious website and should be taken as comic relief for it’s members.

Most of us anticipating the start of this show are used to all the delayed starts by now. But it seems that June 5 is when the pilot is supposed to be shown for it’s 13 show summer run. How can I say for sure that June 5th will be a go, well because it’s listed in my Personal Video Recorder’s TV guide and I’ve got it scheduled to record the series. You can come back to this site for a complete review of the pilot after it runs. In this interview from the Canadian press, Grant Show discusses the fact that there really isn’t much sex in the series, but it just “oozes sexuality”. The site Underground Online (UGO) has a review of Swingtown and the author doesn’t think there will be a demand for this kind of show, but only time can tell.
